This week’s prompt is: Good, Evil and the Rules that You Live By
Marcus Tullius Cicero told us that, “The function of wisdom is to discriminate between good and evil.”
The way that we see good and evil, or the lack thereof, surely colors the way we interact in a world that is ruled by opposing forces – love and hate, respect and contempt, freedom and fear.
We may become frustrated with the reality that our sisters’ and brothers’ motivations are often different from our own as the concept of good and evil, or simply right and wrong, are very personal and base level instincts that don’t always cross cultural divides, and in fact, often change from family to family and person to person.
What internal force motivates your actions? Are you a warrior on the path of life choosing a side or has good and evil nothing to do with a belief in a higher power or moral philosophy? What rules do you live by?
*What does goodness mean to you? And what is evil? How does your concept of good and evil affect the way that you live and react in the world? Do you need to believe in a higher power to act good, or if you believe in a higher power, would the absence of that power change the way that you treat other people? Is it possible to have good without evil? Share your thoughts on these matters.
*Write a story, poem, or share a picture or song about the dichotomy of good and evil and how that affects the decisions that you make in your life.
*Any inspired offering that somehow relates to good, evil and the motivation to act.
