Carelessness Follows Closely

Death today
I could live with
but tomorrow
might be too late,
to end this birth
without the
ever waiting
taint of disgrace.
Though brothers
I have many
and sisters
I have much more,
carelessness
follows closely
holding the cloak
of dishonor.
Growing slower
and weaker daily
but from the reaper
I hear no call,
so I walk the line
and wonder
if death will come
before the fall.
This world
so full of promise
and knowing not
my fate,
death today
I could live with
but tomorrow
might be too late.

    so full of promise
    and knowing not
    my fate,

  2. I am in accord with all of the above comments. Makes you think about how you’re living your life today… Tomorrow might be too late… Hopefully we are all able to live our lives according to our consciences from day to day, but sometimes that may be placing too much trust in ourselves? Haha…

    Great poem.
