Dungeon Prompts: Introducing the Alter Ego

This week’s prompt is: Introducing the Alter Ego

“In a corner of my soul there hides a tiny frightened child, who is frightened by a corner where there lingers something wild.”

– Shaun Hick, The Army of Five Men

 Today’s Prompt:

We all have some aspect of our personality that most don’t see.  It may be a superhero that we walk the world as.  It may be a tough guy telling back the bullies that only you hear on the inside while the world sees a soft spoken person.  It may be the shy, sensitive, insecure child that you cover up with a bold and outgoing personality.  Who are you hiding within?  Who do you walk the world as, but most do not see?  Introduce us to your alter ego.

The article that you link to this prompt should be a new post written specifically for this assignment.

Dungeon Prompts can be a vehicle for us to open up the abandoned rooms inside ourselves and dust them off a bit.  Take the prompt, explore the recesses of your mind, and get back with a poem, story, essay or creative offering.  Link your post to this specific prompt page and I’ll share your link back with our readers.

To participate, all you’ll need to do is:

1.            Tag your post with: “DungeonPrompts”

2.            Link back to this page in the body of your post *

3.            Dive deep within and give us a glimpse of your soul!**

*note: If the pingback doesn’t work, then please leave the link to your post in the comment section.

**If you don’t have a blog please feel free to join the discussion in the comment section

Be sure and come back to check out the other prompt contributors throughout the week. Comment on their posts and let them know what you think.  Together we can help create a community of great writers and honest seekers.  We are a mad blend, let us honor the wisdom within.

I am a King without a Kingdom, in a world with many masters, wrapped in the spoils of a jealous heart, and my people’s callous laughter.

  1. Good prompt, although I don’t have a clue what I will be writing about! Will be interesting to see what emerges. Hmmmm maybe it could even be something I’ve already been mulling over in my mind, taken a slightly different direction! Interesting how my first reaction to a prompt often is “I can’t do that” and minutes later the idea comes. At least now I expect that it will show up! 🙂

  2. First of all… Karuna is starting to freak me out because I essentially had the same reaction. Lol I read this prompt and thought, “What the heck am I gonna do with this!?!” There’s already several “me’s” on display at any given time, and now I need to dig deeper into all those freaks! urgh. But, as soon as that thought completed, my mind was bombarded with flow and there was nonstop spillage onto my notepad. I’m really starting to think there is something magical about my ironing board…
