The cycle of life –

precious moments fleeced
by misunderstanding –
not comfortable in our
skin because we know what
rests within, a meaning that
we’ve held without consequence –
haven’t opened the door to
possibility for we rest in fear
that there is only darkness
waiting to be exposed, that
the light at the end of the
tunnel will be revealed as
a flicker, a dream from which
we awake to find only
nothingness, to find we are
just animals with the ability to
create worlds out of thought,
turning those worlds into a
reality that we paint upon the
blank canvas of another’s
intellect, as we work, eat, sleep,
procreate, and die, we
return always to the
never-ending
why.

  1. This point regarding fear is great… “that the light at the end of the tunnel will be revealed as a flicker,” but the best summation in this piece (to me) is… “we are just animals with the ability to create worlds out of thought, turning those worlds into a reality that we paint upon the blank canvas of another’s intellect.” This is an interesting depiction of how we influence perspective out of our own imaginings. Very nice piece!
