Oh Rectitude,

How easily

You have been forgotten.

How fast we rode,

On the backs of aberrant phenomena,

In a haste

To become exceptional.

Now we stand,

So far away…

To morality, we are lost.

Now we stand with the flesh.

We yielded to mortality,

Sold our birthright

To yearnings of these suits that should,

In fact,

Only protect our marvels.

Dear Truth,

Please hold our hands,

Once again.

Lead us back to whence we came.

The place we have forgotten.

Remember us, oh rectitude,

Even when/if we forget you.

  1. This poem is everything. This is the human journey, the human condition. I love it. It is such a strange phenomenon that in following our basic humaness, we lose our humaness – or maybe we go after our base instincts and lose our higher ones, but we don’t realize it until it’s too late. Thank you for sharing this with the series.
